Gustav Myrthenbaum the Dilettante (Davy White) Falco the Apothecary (Michael Morgan) Hargrin the Troll Slayer (Kevin Bronakoski) Bran the Amber Wizard (David Crapper) Rutger Horstmann the Zealot (Chris Taylor) From Gustav’s Personal Journal On Death and Destruction Kemperbad Why do we keep ending up here with its ill sited harbor and creaking lifts? Miserable folk so far from the light of Altorf as to be completely blind to the law and manners of Sigmar’s true born. Too many bad memories here. The disappearance of Badigan, the loss of enfeebled Smoff. The horrid Halfling Ripwise and his gruesome meat pies. This is the place where we lost the half sack of treasure to multi limbed thieves and my skin turned blue. The Sisters, of course, are exempt from this judgement. They have shown me nothing but ill-placed kindness and a considerable mercy regarding past affliction and now with my current condition. Likewise should be said about my present companions. Strange that in this world of righteous fire and persecution such compassion would find a home. At the time of this writing, we’ve just left this sore on Imperial civilization, Kemperbad, and departed on a barge, hopefully for the last time. Our group has been properly outfitted for what I expect is our meeting with Etelka. Hagrin had collected on some axes of the finest quality I have ever seen. Falco, equipped with a new blunderbuss that has not left his side is looking the warrior. Rutger, intent and fixed in purpose more so than normal. Only Bran returned with nothing new though I expect his mind has not stopped trying to anticipate Etelka’s next move. I remain unconvinced as to which of us is the quarry. At times, I feel like we’re being baited and at others it seems we have almost got her and her crew cornered. As for myself, I’ve picked up a flatbow and rope, should we see her or any of our past “friends” I’ll be sure they do not get away, again. I truly hope I can trust these men to do what is necessary should the time come. Both with her and myself… I am terribly tired with the nonsense of Etelka’s minions and their completely bizarre behavior. If I didn’t experience her own corrupting influence, I would be completely dismissive of these fools and their ridiculous efforts. Truly a troupe of clowns capering about on slack puppet strings. Just as we were boarding the boat one of her idiots made a threat to Castor and clipped some of my beard. If we’re lucky the toad-licker will wake up with a chickens foot instead of a hand. Now that we are back on the river I have some time to reflect on my current condition. Since the time I was a young man, I have mused on how I might die and what glorious legacy I might be remembered for. Epic ballad, revolutionary style, a comprehensive study of the Bogen Wyrm. Certainly all the tales and songs sang for others were merely a preamble for my own magnificent triumphs. I would go so far as to say it was my primary and all-consuming preoccupation. How would I die? Now, in just the course of a week, I can think on almost nothing but how I will be destroyed. By blade or by hemp? Stones or fire… Hunted and destroyed, my name whispered to remind children to stay in at dark. Or perhaps, to bellowed out in the raving of the madman on the street reminding the people of the fall of Gustav, trapped by his very hubris. I just spent an hour looking at my reflection trying to see “it” open. I blacked out when I caught a glimpse and came to with a nosebleed. Fire might be the key. by Davy White (aka Gustav)

Gustav Myrthenbaum the Dilettante (Davy White) Falco the Apothecary (Michael Morgan) Hargrin the Troll Slayer (Kevin Bronakoski) Bran the Amber Wizard (David Crapper) Rutger Horstmann the Zealot (Chris Taylor) During a harrowing excursion into the Barren Hills, the group discovered the missing key for the pentagram lock in the signaling tower on the bank of the River Reik. As a result, their current plan is to return to the tower. The group stopped in Untebaum along the way, where they were greeted by a dead body slumped over the top of the river lock gate. Arrows were protruding from his body, which led the group to assume that the man was killed by elves. Bran spotted another body whose neck had been badly twisted and its head facing backwards. They decided to enter the village. While heading into the village they discovered a dead woman with a gash in her chest. They recognized her as Esmerelda, who they encountered previously while passing through Untebaum. As they drew closer to the village, they noticed a horrible smell. Bran advised the party to prepare themselves for a dire situation. The village was a gruesome sight. It had been razed and there were dead bodies piled up around a funeral pyre. As the party discussed their next course of action, they heard a sound from behind a nearby building. Hargrin and Rutger circled the hut, while Bran attempted to calm the petrified Falco. All they discovered was a goat. “Would they really setup a pyre and kill everyone in the village?” asked Bran. The scene before them didn’t reconcile with what they knew about elves. Gustav noted that the arrows seemed familiar, but couldn’t place it. While Rutger and Falco searched a nearby blacksmith for a blunderbuss, they happened across Vorster. He was badly beaten, bloody and dying. A dead beastman had fallen on top of him. As he spoke to the team, he made reference to a cold female who had an elf by her side. Gustav and Falco speculated that there was a link to the elves they met in Bogenhaafen, as well as Athos, their former elvish party member. The group decided to continue looking for answers at a Shaolin temple in Kemperbaad. After an uneventful overnight trip, they arrived. The temple was only accessibly via a tall stairway, which could be bypassed by either paying for a lift or transforming into a bird. Hargin decided to walk, while Gustav, Falco, and Rutger paid the fare for the lift. In true character, Bran transformed into a bird then walked up the steps with Hargrin. The group approached the temple, left their weapons at the door and proceeded to enter. Upon being received by a priestess, Gustav showed her his third-eye. The priestess asked Gustav some questions in an attempt to diagnose, then assurance him that life as a freak wasn’t all that bad. Another woman then approached the group and spoke to Falco. She indicated knowing him, though the frightened apothecary couldn’t place her. The woman reminded Falco that she was the one who took care of Smof, the ogre who was once a member of their party. Smof stayed behind in Kemperbaad, as he had fallen ill. She informed the team that he was released from her care to a man that claimed to know the group of travelers. The woman described the man as having short, fair hair, though he mostly wore a hood while in her presence. She remembered him having a prominent scar under one eye. When he brought Smof out to his carriage, there was another man waiting for him. He referred to him as Gearhart. We left the group pondering this name. by Michael Morgan (aka Falco)

Gustav Myrthenbaum the Dilettante (Davy White) Falco the Apothecary (Michael Morgan) Hargrin the Troll Slayer (Kevin Bronakoski) Bran the Amber Wizard (David Crapper) Rutger Horstmann the Zealot (Chris Taylor) It was…6 Sommerzeit? 7 Sommerzeit? I could not be sure. Our party left that accursed cave, hounded by the rat-things. Over the course of the next few hours, Bran led us back to the canoes, the sound of our pursuers growing closer and closer. Falco took off ahead, however, and it was all we could do to keep him up. He moved like a man possessed of demons, his strength seeming endless as we slogged on in the heavy air…thick with moisture and insects, it itself was nearly enough to spell our end. It wasn’t long before we saw our canoes, lying on the rocks just as we left them, our salvation and escape from this hellish landscape, plagued by spectres and rat-devils. Alas, our escape from this land wasn’t without difficulties. The…rat-things caught up to us, chittering madly from the shore, as they threw…strange shaped metal pieces at us. Both I and Hargrin were struck by the hellish projectiles, as our boat hadn’t found the current that Bran, Gustav, and Falco had found. It seemed as if their canoe was miles ahead of ours, and both Hargin and I were weakened from blood loss and the six hour flight to where we had left the boats, but we were able to finally catch current ourselves and a goodly portion down the river, we met our party once more. We decided to beach ourselves so that both Hargrin and I could have our wounds attended, as well as Gustav. All had born injury from the trip into that cavern, and for some of us the damage was physical, the cuts of foul blades, but for others, the lacerations were beneath the skin. Falco attended to Hargrin’s wounds while Bran began to place the tents. Falco mixed some sort of strange…poultice that he placed on both Hargrin’s as well as my wounds…the poultice induced us to expel the contents of our stomach, not being much, though, as our flight the previous evening had left us unable to sup. Hargrin looked much better afterwards; however, I felt the sting of the wound, in addition to the roiling of my stomach that the poultice caused. I don’t believe I could have eaten should the opportunity have presented itself at the time. We all bedded down for the night, and although we rotated the watch duties, our sleep was deep, and most of us awakened feeling refreshed, if not a bit sore from exertion. Save one in our party…Gustav. He cried out that he had fallen out of Sigmar’s light, with such anguish that I have rarely heard in the depths of men’s voices. The cause for this was apparent after a few minutes, as he showed me the strange lump high upon his forehead..what appeared to be a third eye. He begged me to not let him see the flame of the witch hunter’s pyre. So, the next few days were a quagmire of conflict for me. My allegiances to the Holy Order of the Templars of Sigmar should have made this an easy decision; give Gustav the mercy of a quick, painless kill and go on. But I am not to that point yet. It is my hope that the Shallyans can help him, to cure him of this mutation. Should that fail, I will perform my duties as expected by my superiors, as mercifully as I can as expected by a friend. However, the current situation we find ourselves in is more pressing. What happened here at Unterbaum? Why are there dead lying in the street, with the shafts of arrows sprouting from them? by Rutger Abend (aka Chris Taylor)

Gustav Myrthenbaum the Dilettante (Davy White) Hargrin the Troll Slayer (Kevin Bronakoski) Bran the Amber Wizard (David Crapper) Rutger Horstmann the Zealot (Chris Taylor) If this craven narcoleptic ratcatching excuse for an apothecary ever wakes up, boy have I got a bone to pick with him…I grumbled to myself as we counted our losses following the Skaven attack. I should have chosen my words more carefully. Because that’s when the skeletons attacked. A bone to pick – Oh the irony, given that the Skaven skirmish was swiftly followed by a skeleton attack and now here we are fleeing the Devil’s Bowl with more vicious ratmen in hot pursuit. I know it’s a team effort and the makeup of this strange band of individuals is often greater than the sum of its parts. But I didn’t realise that running away would be chief among Falco’s dubious skills. I guess I should be relieved that I’m not the one having to carry Falco. For that and for keeping us alive in that battle we have Hargrin the Trollslayer to thank. Or rather it is Sigmar whom we must thank for bringing us our Trollslayer. For a time it appeared that the fight would go against us as a series of our most well aimed attacks were repelled or missed their targets and we in turn were taking serious damage. Until the Mohican sporting stone like fighting machine finally got into his rhythm and laid about the creatures, recklessly cleaving the ratfiends in twain with abandon . As I surveyed the scene the Trollslayer was panting heavily but had begun to calm from his almost manic melee state and was cleaning the blood from his fearsome looking axe blades. With Gustav waking from his concussion just as Falco slipped into one it appeared the worst of it was over. But we didn’t figure on those damn skeletons. It’s not that these undead were particularly hard to kill (I mean they were begging for a fatal release from their undead state) but by chaos they were sure relentless. No sooner had one emerged rattling it’s bones than another clattered through the opening after it. Then another, and a fourth. Luckily there wasn’t a fifth since one of our number was currently slumbering (curled up in the foetal position and muttering something about his mother – or someones mother). In any case I digress. With the undead finally vanquished there was nothing left but to search the belongings of the unfortunate and long lost hiking party. Some peculiar potions that we’ll run by Falco, when he’s caught up on his beauty sleep and some maps which even without Gustav’s reading skills are clearly duplicates of maps we’ve already found. But what’s this? A strange cylindrical necklace. Just like the one that was missing from the Observatory we visited prior. So it looks like we’ll be heading back to the Signalling Tower for more undead and ghoulrot action. Yes Gustav in particular seems about as delighted by that news as a mutant speaker would be at a Witch Hunter conference. So here we are again. On the run with no time now to rest, reflect or plan our next move. Simply fight and flight. Bran’s bird call filled the air and announced. "More Skaven are coming." We chose to fly. So here we all are panting heavily and gasping for air and running as fast as our legs will carry us. While Falco is…sleeping. Sigh! It’s gonna be a long, long road ahead. by GM Noely

Falco the Apothecary (Michael Morgan) Hargrin the Troll Slayer (Kevin Bronakoski) Bran the Amber Wizard (David Crapper) Rutger Abend the Zealot (Chris) 3 Sommerzeit The events of this evening have been…strange, indeed, and worthy of journaling, should my party fall in combat to the forces of the Ruinous Powers. I pray to Sigmar that it doesn’t happen, but should it do, let this stand as a record of our activities this evening. As we sought a place to camp for the night, we came upon a lake with many stones about it. The place felt…strange, off as it was, although this being the Barren Hills, it should have come as no surprise to any of us. As I was contemplating whether the stones were some sort of place sacred to either Taal or Rhya, or perhaps both, it was then that we were accosted by an apparition! It was the apparition of a female with a bluish glow about her, and when she spoke, it was as if someone had scattered bones on dead leaves…an eerie, mournful voice. Sadly, I could not recall any of my lessons on apparitions…I’m sure Lector Gerhardt will see that I’m properly re-educated on this subject before I am Ordained, should that fateful day come to pass! The apparition didn’t seem to mean us harm, although Gustav cried out and fainted dead away at the sight of the apparition. Efforts to rouse him were unsuccessful. She bid us to follow her, and we abstained from doing so initially, fear that she would lead us into a trap. As she floated away and realized that we were not following, she turned to us and the terror that radiated from her was…palpable. Steeling my resolve and calling out to Sigmar, I was unaffected, as were several of the others. I’m rather sure that had Gustav been conscious at that point, he would have likely fainted dead away, or fell with a heart malady. After a brief discussion, the party decided to follow her, only so that we could get a moment’s rest to set up camp and sleep, as it had been a long day! I have marked our destination as best as I could on the map on the next page, so that we might find this place once more. She led us to a cave, and stated that her party, some one hundred years prior, had been searching for a special type of stone. She told us that when it was found, it turned one of her companions, one Dagmar Von Wittgenstein into a murderous parody of himself that slew her and the rest of her party. I believe that she was referring to Warpstone, if I’m not mistaken. Anyway, we located her bones, and buried them in a more dignified manner, each of us falling silent to mark the somberness of the mood. I recited what few prayers to Morr that I could recall, as Morrite religion has never been my strong suite. It settled the apparition, and the hideous wounds that she had appeared to suffer seemed to slip away. Her voice became stronger, and she told us that a female had come through and had promised to bury her bones, but had failed to do so. Given the lack of foot traffic in the area, save our quarry, we could only surmise that the female in question was the Witch..it appeared we were on the correct trail! The apparition told us in life that her name was Brumhilda, and she was a devout Sigmarite. As the apparition faded away after thanking us, we were…accosted by rat-men who begged for stone. Falco, upon seeing the hideous creatures, became terrified of them, telling us that we were going to die if we engaged them. This did not stop Hargrin, who closed with the largest of the creatures to trade blows. Upon seeing this, Falco and Little Gustav fled, only to return a short time later stating that we were surrounded. It appeared his senses had returned! Although the battle with the creature and his two allies…other rat-men, was short, it was vicious none-the-less. Hargrin was wounded many times, as was I. Bran, displaying his mastery over the Earth, hurled bolts of amber that collapsed the passageways behind the creature, blocking any reinforcements. When the last of the creatures fell, we quickly moved to finish our task of reburying the remainder of the apparition’s party, and exiting the foul cave in order to find somewhere less dangerous to rest our weary heads! Gustav Myrthenbaum the Dilettante (Davy White) Falco the Apothecary (Michael Morgan) Hargrin the Troll Slayer (Kevin Bronakoski) Bran the Amber Wizard (David Crapper) Rutger Abend the Zealot (Chris) So, apparently gettin' different people's views is important to the group. It's my turn again so here ya go. After arrivin' at the base of a very high waterfall, we met a couple of human women who would take us to their village, Unterbaum. We had to climb several hundred stairs dug up through the earth to the top of the falls. It was obviously dug by humans, no pride in their work. Uneven steps and a rope railin' if ya can believe it. Rutger seemed to lose his wind about three quarters of the way and we shamed him into makin' the rest of the climb. It was quite the view at the top and I stayed well away from the edge what with there bein' no proper ramparts and such. The ladies had a cart and drove us to their village. Unterbaum looks pretty much as all the rest of the human villages do. The village Elder, Vorster, met us when we arrived and seemed pleasant enough. They don't get many visitors so we got a nice healthy dinner for free. Bran shows up, he's the strange one that can turn into a raven, and pretends he doesn't know us. This part I still don't understand .. Oh and they call him Corrobrand or some such thing. After dinner we talk about where we'll be goin'. It seems that some time ago a great chunk of evil fell from the sky and has corrupted the land in the area called the Devil's Bowl. Lots of decay and nasty creatures have sprung up there, so that is a piece of good news for me. It seemed that Gustav didn't feel the same and tried to weasel out. We convinced him to go. The next mornin' we proceeded to venture into hell. I say this cause we had to learn to use a thing called a canoe. It was the most sad excuse for a boat you can possibly imagine. Brand was teachin' us how to actually flip it and right ourselves since it apparently flips all the time. He was givin' piss poor advice and after several unsuccessful attempts, we retired for the night. The next day started the same and after swallowin' quite a bit of water I realized that there was a better way and easily righted meself. We took off up the river Narn to the Barren Hills. The first night went by fine other then the vicious blood sucking insects. The next day we made it to a section of the river that was too dangerous to travel so we did somethin' called a portage where you pick up your boat and carry it around the bad part on land. Right as we started to walk we were greeted with a loud growl. by Hargrin

Gustav Myrthenbaum the Dilettante (Davy White) Hargrin the Troll Slayer (Kevin Bronakoski) Bran the Amber Wizard (David Crapper) Rutger Abend the Zealot (Chris) There’s water water everywhere and I feel like i’ve drunk every drop of it. The Barren Hills they said, a treacherous chaos infested wasteland of twisted branches, and nature forsaken foliage that clung to life but only barely. A rock blasted mound of jagged, razor like rocks that threatened to slice our legs or break an ankle with every step. It was tough, but I was ready for all of that. I’ve climbed the mighty misty mountains, escaped from hordes of goblins in the legendary black fire pass, and even clambered alive if somewhat badly smelling, from the sewers under Ubersreik, But nothing, I repeat nothing could have prepared us for this ‘water’ Now I’ve nothing against water per se, and unlike Falco the pungently smelling ex rat catcher I regularly bathe, at least once a month, and sometimes even twice a month whether i’m in need of it or not. But this was not the luxurious bathing kind, more the white water furious roaring waters kind.. Watching Bran the crazy Raven guy roll the canoe looked fairly straightforward but oh how wrong I was. With nought but some flimsy coconut like helmet for protection we proceeded to capsize our canoes not once, not twice, but countless times. For myself I was determined to not give in and to carry on until success was assured. But my thoughts soon turned to self preservation when I watched the dwarf who’d already expressed doubts about the manner of our journey upriver, pass out from sheer exhaustion and fatigue. His stomach distended like some huge balloon no doubt filled with half the water from the riverbed. At that it appeared that our guide Bran had seen enough and decided we should all head back to Unterbaum for another nights rest and recovery and to allow us to pump the dwarfs stomach of river water and let him rest awhile. And rest we did in those dry beds with not a drop of water in them safe and secure in the knowledge that we’d not have to see them boats again this night. But alas day 2 came and for a time it was more of the same. Paddle paddle, tip, sink, swallow water, half drown, spit water and rinse and repeat. After a while though it seems our instructor gave the order for us to press onwards up the river. I am fairly sure however that this had more to do with our instructor tiring of our pathetic efforts than us being deemed somehow canoeing experts. I have to say for all my uselessness with the paddle the dwarf in particular looks less than seaworthy and I did my utmost best to avoid sharing a boat with him. I am quite sure it will be several weeks until all the water in my ears finally decides to leave my cranium and let me relax. And I must say that while I was not sorry to leave behind our ex captain Badigon the Boatman behind I am starting to understand a little more about why he may have been the cranky whinger that he was. Perhaps a life on the water really does make one a salty old sea dog. by GM Noely

Gustav Myrthenbaum the Dilettante (Davy White) Falco the Ratcatcher (Michael Morgan) Hargrin the Troll Slayer (Kevin Bronakoski) Bran the Amber Wizard (David Crapper) Rutger Abend the Zealot (Chris) Fragment found from “Tales From the Barren Hills and How We Escaped the Horror of the Hilltop Without a Scratch” On our way from the north our group was moored in Kemperbad and took a much needed break to re-equip from ridding the goblins from Etelka's mines, each of us in our own way. I rested, hoping to shake the accursed ghoul pox and scrub some of the blue that had covered even more of my body. Hargrin disappeared on stone business, procuring proper weapons. Rutger spent some time looking for a boat to take us up to the Barren Hills. His search would ultimately prove fruitless Bran took to the skies and began looking for some clues as how to get us up the river. Nothing of note, most folks are quite concerned about attacks by mutants but because of the Emperor decree the mutants are to be treated as citizens. Some attacks occurred near Castle Wittgenstein. The mutants are using their amnesty to raid and pillage. Unfortunately, this news came in drips and drabs as Bran at the same time suffered from the drops. Having heard this disturbing news I headed to the docks with the others, determined to secure us safe passage along the river. I headed down to the docks to hopefully find some passage to the Barren Hills and possibly to get folks talking about a remarkably blue fellow headed into the hills. The hope, of course, was that the cultists would reveal themselves to Kastor. It took some convincing and stretching of the truth, but we managed to secure one boat headed to Unterbaum. His fee was exorbitant but we talked him down some. That task out of the way we departed to sell off some of the treasure Hargrin had bundled in his blankets. The bag was slit and plenty of the items stolen. We had to drive off the crowd who hovered and made to clean us out of the rest of the earrings. Wretched, poor folk that saw the glinting gold and sparkling jewels as a means to end their impoverishment closed in on us practically drooling. The dwarf pulled out his new butchers tools and brandished those menacingly at the mob. This was enough to discourage the bravest of that backless lot. The thieves made off with our treasures, clearly horrid mutants with huge sized hands and oily slick skin to abscond with such loot. We sold the remainder and had Bran watch one of the notable fences in hopes of catching the thieves and exacting our revenge. In a sour mood we departed for the boat that would take us out of the den of thugs. At the docks we were predictably approached by the cultists. We stated we were off to the Barren Hills without them. They mentioned they'd be watching and be waiting for the “windfall” and accused me of trying to hide out on them. I managed to set them straight and mention that it was they that was being watched. Traveling down river we sailed through the great en-scrolled monoliths. Terrible constructs set in place to defy the unnatural spawn that have been tainted. Bran gave us some wise council as to their origins and purpose. We'd soon forget them however as were impressed by the sight of the Twin Comet falls. Magnificent in their splendor and thunderous in their proclamation to any passing by. While taking in this unforgettable sight we noticed our dwarven companion was fixated on another waterborne feature. A bloated horse carcass trapped in an eddy for who knows how long. You'd have thought the horse had been a dear friend to the Slayer the way he wanted to be re-united with the thing. I am happy to say the rest of the group was united in wishing to sail past the diseased animal. Finally, we got to the falls and the famous locks that would take us to the top of the falls and the inn up above.... by Davy White (aka Gustav) Ripwise's secret ingredient revealed

Gustav Myrthenbaum the Dilettante (Davy White) Falco the Ratcatcher (Michael Morgan) Hargrin the Troll Slayer (Kevin Bronakoski) Bran the Amber Wizard (David Crapper) Rutger Abend the Zealot (Chris) The group returned to Grissenwald after escaping the burning tower. Though they had yet to locate Etelka Herzen, they discovered a letter addressed to her. This letter indicated that she was searching for an unknown item on behalf of a mysterious party in the Barren Hills. The group decided to follow the lead and made plans to travel to the Barren Hills. While making preparations, Hargrin visited with Ripwise’s sister Dumpling who informed him of some disturbing news; their previously departed companion Ripwise was feeding the group pies made out of people. Hargrin relayed the information, which had varying degrees of impact on the group: Falco was unphased, Bran became queasy, and Gustav vomited. The rest of the time in Grissenwald was spent buying supplies and acquiring transportation. Gustav successfully negotiated for a boat to take them to Kemperbad, which was on the way to the Barren Hills. Shortly after departing, the group noticed an individual selling his wares in a nearby boat on the river. The group instructed their skipper to pull up to the boat in order to browse his stock. Gustav purchased a blue colored healing potion from the charlatan before carrying on up the river. Later during the trip, Bran noticed that Gustav’s face had turned blue. The group assumed this was caused by the potion, but the correlation is unconfirmed. Regardless, this sent the crooner-of-size into a panic. After the moment passed, Bran amused the others by using his magical powers to cook airborne fish. Upon arriving in Kemperbad, the group split up in order to carry out different tasks. Gustav searched for lodging, while Falco went to visit a local apothecary to enquire about the Spores he collected in Etelka’s tower. The apothecary informed Falco that the spores will have a negative effect on wizards once exposed. Bran transformed into a hawk and began surveilling the city, while Hargrin headed in the direction of the dwarven center. Falco the Apothecary (Michael Morgan) Hargrin the Dwarf Trollslayer (Kevin Bronakoski) Bran the Amber Wizard (David Crapper) Rutger Horstmann the Zealot (Chris Taylor) Prologue This day was a dark day, for the tempestuous winds of magic had been cast as fickle as a die throw. Bran had soared high upon these winds feeling for pockets of power that would speed his flight. For every tendril of brown magic was Ghur the bestial spirit, to be shaped and used to Brans advantage. Brans bestial form was shaped like that of a raven, For in this form Bran was powerful indeed! Bran had travelled far from the black peaks of Albion, a wild place filled with giants and mystical wonder. Bran travels To a wilder place still. Where the lands of men bleeds war and turmoil. Through the milieu Morsliebs signs guide him to a tower of much import. For it holds unlikely heroes... Heroes who must be guided. Diary 1 Taking purchase upon the towers windowsill Brans, raven eyes catch sight of two goblin riders. Bah!The curiosity of goblins be their doom. Warning the others, with a 'caw!' Bran takes flight once more. Readying in position to surprise the riders when the time is right. With buckshot, axe and talon the heroes advance into the fray. The faster of the three, Bran swoops at the Grobi foe, clawing, cawing and catching the element of surprise. With a tumble and a clatter the goblin and wolf fall down stair after stair. Now a crumpled heap on the floor below. A Squat dwarf adorned with symbolic tattoos and an Orange Mohawk almost twice his bodily frame slices his foe with berserker fury and axes wielded from ham sized fists. A curiously Scarred man takes aim with man crafted contraption; firing death upon the assaulted stairway. With Dog at his heel- the scarred man commands it with a whistle. The Dog fervently obeys it's master... and attacks tooth and claw, without mercy. With both goblins dead the remaining wolves try to escape, howling for aid. Bran darts for one wolf in an effort to silence it, but without luck... for it is too late the howl is answered with howl. Sensing this new threat, Bran reveals himself To the Man and the Dwarf. No time for introductions, no time to react to surprised questions or bold statements... For the enemy is here, with spear and bow. With tooth and claw. So to the winds of magic bran must call once more! A rally is mustered and a plan is hatched. The scarred man has slicked oil to fetch for bran to burn the interlopers in a devilish trap. The yellows of the Goblin eyes the defenders of the tower did wait to see... Just before bran had burnt them all to asunder with fiendish glee. The tower now on fire would seal our doom unless the Heroes could escape! As they tied ropes from bed linen an explosion could be heard from the distant mine. Climbing from the burning tower proved more dangerous than nought, as the scarred man bust an ankle on his way down. The dwarf on the other hand proved his strength.. As he helped to pull down many a survivor. We were Greeted by Dwarf miners who had defeated the rest of the Goblin hoard.. They had many questions... But Bran paid no attention. he merely wanted one thing and that was to continue his journey to the Barren hills and the Devils Bowl. Bran demanded assistance from the dwarves- with the scarred Man's ankle, but was taken aback when a Man wearing a strange trench coat adorned with sigils began asking him questions about leadership and some woman. He had no time for such questions! Bran, Answering as best he could, merely stated that he worked for Earth! Nobody leads him, So why should he lead others? Later that dark day, They travelled to a village that the Dwarves had mentioned, seeking help with their wounds and a bed to lay their heads.
