Prologue

This day was a dark day, for the tempestuous winds of magic had been cast as fickle as a die throw.

Bran had soared high upon these winds feeling for pockets of power that would speed his flight. For every tendril of brown magic was Ghur the bestial spirit, to be shaped and used to Brans advantage.

Brans bestial form was shaped like that of a raven, For in this form Bran was powerful indeed!

Bran had travelled far from the black peaks of Albion, a wild place filled with giants and mystical wonder. Bran travels To a wilder place still. Where the lands of men bleeds war and turmoil. Through the milieu Morsliebs signs guide him to a tower of much import. For it holds unlikely heroes... Heroes who must be guided.

Diary 1
Taking purchase upon the towers windowsill Brans, raven eyes catch sight of two goblin riders.

Bah!The curiosity of goblins be their doom.

Warning the others, with a 'caw!' Bran takes flight once more. Readying in position to surprise the riders when the time is right.

With buckshot, axe and talon the heroes advance into the fray.

The faster of the three, Bran swoops at the Grobi foe, clawing, cawing and catching the element of surprise. With a tumble and a clatter the goblin and wolf fall down stair after stair. Now a crumpled heap on the floor below.

A Squat dwarf adorned with symbolic tattoos and an Orange Mohawk almost twice his bodily frame slices his foe with berserker fury and axes wielded from ham sized fists.

A curiously Scarred man takes aim with man crafted contraption; firing death upon the assaulted stairway. With Dog at his heel- the scarred man commands it with a whistle. The Dog fervently obeys it's master... and attacks tooth and claw, without mercy.

With both goblins dead the remaining wolves try to escape, howling for aid. Bran darts for one wolf in an effort to silence it, but without luck... for it is too late the howl is answered with howl.

Sensing this new threat, Bran reveals himself To the Man and the Dwarf. No time for introductions, no time to react to surprised questions or bold statements... For the enemy is here, with spear and bow. With tooth and claw. So to the winds of magic bran must call once more!

A rally is mustered and a plan is hatched. The scarred man has slicked oil to fetch for bran to burn the interlopers in a devilish trap.

The yellows of the Goblin eyes the defenders of the tower did wait to see... Just before bran had burnt them all to asunder with fiendish glee.

The tower now on fire would seal our doom unless the Heroes could escape! As they tied ropes from bed linen an explosion could be heard from the distant mine.

Climbing from the burning tower proved more dangerous than nought, as the scarred man bust an ankle on his way down. The dwarf on the other hand proved his strength.. As he helped to pull down many a survivor.

We were Greeted by Dwarf miners who had defeated the rest of the Goblin hoard.. They had many questions... But Bran paid no attention. he merely wanted one thing and that was to continue his journey to  the Barren hills and the Devils Bowl.

Bran demanded assistance from the dwarves- with the scarred Man's ankle, but was taken aback when a Man wearing a strange trench coat adorned with sigils began asking him questions about leadership and some woman.

He had no time for such questions! Bran, Answering as best he could, merely stated that he worked for Earth! Nobody leads him, So why should he lead others?

Later that dark day, They travelled to a village that the Dwarves had mentioned, seeking help with their wounds and a bed to lay their heads.
Ready for the journey ahead.

Ripwise the Halfling Chef (David Crapper)

So here we are looking for a witch in a tower and what do we find instead but a goblin in a dress. And I can tell you that it wasn’t a very pretty sight. My dreams may be forever haunted by some of the things i’ve witnessed in the company of this party but though less dangerous perhaps than facing the hordes of chaos, nevertheless looking up the skirt of a dress wearing goblin in knickers is not quite the picnic either and just as likely to make you revisit the contents of your stomach and most recent meal as said evil minions.

But enough of the goblin. We’ve seen the last of him or her. And so it seems have we seen the last of Ripwise the halfling chef of ours. Admittedly he always seemed somewhat unhinged but the manner in which he completely lost his mind and plummeted out of the window was nothing short of the work of a madman. I can still hear his manic shriek as he bundled into the goblin with a tackle that wouldn’t have looked out of place on a snotball field.

And speaking of madness, throughout all of these events Hargrin the Trollsslayer continues to cleave the goblins in twain with a reckless abandon that borders just the right side (or do I mean the wrong side) of insanity. And what was the crazy ratcatcher fella doing all this while? Well it later transpired that he was collecting mold. Yep you heard that right. He was collecting mold. As if there wasn't enough mold and fungus gathering on his clothes and permanently unbathed body he's now collecting his own. Madness!

But what do I know of madness? Perhaps I'm the crazy one.  I know not what to make of this Raven which appeared out of the blue and has begun to follow us. Does it sense our imminent deaths and has designs on picking over our carcasses? If so it would be more polite I think for it to wait. It has proved useful and aided us already beyond measure but even so I cannot bring myself to trust the bird like the others seem to. It has an intelligent gleam in it’s eye or perhaps we’re all descending into madness I can no longer tell which is true. Maybe both.

Been a fan of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay since the 80's. The Enemy Within always stood out as a classic and at the time, and arguably since there was nothing like it. And these pages are my homage to it.
