It's recent eradication serves us all and truly makes the Empire a safer place. Myself, Rutger, and Hagrin followed a lone castle guardsman back to the temple. My “gift” made itself useful. I find it hard to explain, but I could see where he was before we got there. We found them in the temple, Rutger tried to get the "unarmed" guard to remove his helmet. The man refused and menaced up with his dagger. Moving quickly, and skillfully he savagely stabbed Rutger. In the next moment Hargrin and Rutger dispatched the guards. In haste we headed out, carrying Rutger to the physician's house. We met up with Falco and found out that Rousseaux left for the castle. While our Apothecary was in the Doktors house randomly picking up items. He was seen by an old lady but since she seems to be mostly blind she mistook him for Rousseaux. Falco snuck around the house following Rousseaux where he was caught again by another servant but ducked out. He followed the physician out and down the road but had to stop following when Rousseaux got on a horse to head to the castle. On the way back, Falco noticed that he himself was being watched. We look through the stuff Falco stole but it was useless. Noting Rutger's failing condition, I stepped in, I fed him two leeches and turn his bed to better align him with the screeching wren, a know portent of health. His bleeding subsided and I passed this knowledge to Falco, should he require it to save my own life. Hargrin and I headed back to the temple to dispose of the bodies before they were discovered. We searched the bodies and removed the helmet from the guard. They were extremely decayed and stunk terribly. We dragged them to the dark corner of the tower. Back at the Inn the physician shows up and is dragged up to help Rutger. He works on Rutger and patches him up properly. Rousseaux invites us to dinner at his house with the Lady Margritte. We determined that we ought to be able deal with anything she may think of. My third eye remained silent which I took to be a good sign.... by Davy White (aka Gustav Myrthenbaum) ...or a rat-catcher in the doc's house?

Gustav Myrthenbaum the Bounty Hunter (Davy White) Falco the Apothecary (Michael Morgan) Hargrin the Troll Slayer (Kevin Bronakoski) Bran the Amber Wizard (David Crapper) Rutger Horstmann the Zealot (Chris Taylor) Journal Entry of Rutger Horstmann - Sommerzeit <17, 2512> The long-abandoned Sigmarite temple in Wittgendorf was in dire need of attention, the priest having long since slipped from this mortal coil. We spent several minutes looking about, studying the carved statue of Our Lord Sigmar, reading the story of the temple itself on the carvings on the wall, or carefully studying a book lying open on the altar. Hargrin and I looked over the finely cast statue with Bran looked over the book. It contained the Legend of our Lord Sigmar Heldenhammer, which Bran read part of. As he passed the book around to the others to read (I being well-versed in the Legend, having learned it as a child and reinforced in my brief time in the temple), a piece of parchment was left behind, which Bran read, being fluent in the arcane language in which it was read. Bran read aloud the writing, which was a prayer or psalm of Sigmar, one of which I was unfamiliar with. Suddenly two lanterns that had been lit near the statute flared brightly, and the statute spoke to us! It stated that the hour was fast approaching, and if we were ready. We answered in the affirmative (some more so than others), and with that the statute told us that he would give us a sign, and that we should go forth and find the source of chaos that warped his lands. The power of Sigmar flowed through us, wiping away the exhaustion of the previous days, and I knew that nothing could sway us from our mission given to us by the statue. Hargrin found a secret switch on the statue, and the dais in which we were standing upon began to slowly descend into the earth below us. Instead of darkness, we found more lamps, their dim light showing us that we had found a crypt. Sarcophagi lined the walls, crypts to long-gone priests of Sigmar. Gnawed bones were strewn about the crypt, and most of the sarcophagi were opened, their contents looted, save one. The crypt of Sigried von Kesselrink, an honored Templar of Sigmar. The plaque upon which those words were seemed to glow, but before we could further investigate, we noted a tunnel in which more gnawed bones. We crawled through the short, narrow, roughly hewn tunnel for a short while when Bran saw figures crawling toward us! It saw us and scrabbled back, fleeing into the darkness from the light the Amber Wizard created. We set off in pursuit of the figures, Falco’s small-but-vicious dog Little Gustav running ahead, used to the small, tight quarters. Bran spoke talk to the figures, who spoke the common tongue and crowed about us not getting any of their food. It was, at this time that it became apparent that these were villagers. As we pushed forward, they quickly outpaced us, being much more familiar with the tunnels in which we were crawling through. Little Gustav was able to get a piece of one of the tomb robbers, as I believed they were, before they fled the tunnels. Upon further inspection, the tunnel opened up into stairs and a door, with more bones littering the small stone mausoleum that we found ourselves in. Climbing the stairs, we exited into the light to find ourselves in Morr’s Garden, near the temple proper. Of the villagers..or tomb robbers, there were no further signs of. Looking over the Garden, I noted that most of the graves had been sacked and were open to the sky. We re-entered the mausoleum and travelled back toward the tunnel. We were soon joined by Gustav and Hargrin who happened to take a wrong turn in the tunnels, and had exited the tunnels near to the Shooting Star Inn, much to near to the privy, judging by the smell. After a brief discussion in the tunnel, we relocated to the Temple’s crypt once more, leaving the tunnels to travel overland back to where we had started our journey into the tunnels. There was talk amongst Bran and Gustav about the culprit behind the robbing of the graves to perhaps be a necromancer, and Gustav told us of Sigried von Kesselrink, and the heroic tales of von Kesselrink wielding his Dwarven blade to great effect. Bran stated that he saw the winds of magic about the sarcophagi, and that something within was glowing with magic. Lending a hand with a vow to return whatever item of power after we have cleared the land of the chaos that plagued it, we opened the sarcophagi and saw the skeleton of a man in a rusted breastplate with a shining longsword upon his breast, lying within the confines of a gem-encrusted leather scabbard. Hargrin translated the runes upon the blade as “Hope of the Mountains”, and reminded us that Dwarves didn’t give out runed weapons, especially to humans, very often. It was then that I reached forth my hand, taking the blade so that we could rid the lands of the darkness that plagued it. In order to protect the remains of the Templar, Bran collapsed the tunnel and we climbed a stairwell into the Temple once more. Using the key we found in the main Temple, we unlocked the Temple library, which miraculously had been unspoiled by the ravages of time, weather, and hands of man. Gustav found a historical manuscript describing Wittgendorf and its downfall, the lands turning barren, the peasants beginning to starve, and the terrible storm that raged over Castle Wittgenstein, and the black rain that fell, spelling the lingering end for the dorf. by Rutger (aka Chris Taylor) The Enemy Within Revisited Cast: Gustav Myrthenbaum the Bounty Hunter (Davy White) Falco the Apothecary (Michael Morgan) Hargrin the Troll Slayer (Kevin Bronakoski) Bran the Amber Wizard (David Crapper) Rutger Horstmann the Zealot (Chris Taylor) Having just killed a troll and being surrounded by disturbingly starving beggars, the team was ready to continue on their way to castle Wittgenstein. A regal looking woman accompanied by guards appeared on a nearby hill. Her guards grabbed one of the unconscious beggars lying on the ground and took him away. Bran was certain he recognized this woman, determining that she was probably a member of the Wittgenstein family. Bran shared his revelation with the rest of the team, and informed them that she lords over the villagers. While doing so, he starts experiencing an intolerable itch all over his body. Falco inspects him and noticed that he has lice. While this was going on, Rutger looked down on a nearby village, which looked dilapidated and impoverished. A Sigmarite temple in a profound state of disrepair caught his eye. The mere sight of the temple upsets him, and he became driven to find the priest in charge and confront him. He wants to ensure that funds are not being misappropriated. The group entered to the village and stopped at the Shooting Star Inn before proceeding to the temple. Deciding to eat dinner and have a drink first, the group was about to go inside the inn when they noticed a nearby man teasing a dog by dangling a piece of meat over him. Bran attempted to intervene in defense of the dog when the dog suddenly bit the man and ran off. The dog inflicted significant damage, leaving the man in a bad way. Falco performed first-aid to save him. Afterwards, the group left the man where he was and proceeded into the inn. The bar tender welcomed them, while viciously coughing. Gustav inquired on what kind of food they served, and the bar tender informed them that they had 3-legged chickens. Understanding that the inn is serving a mutant chicken, the team decided against eating it and just booked a room. Gustav and Falco shared a room, while Bran took his own room with a window. Hargrin and Rutger also shared a room. Having a drink at the bar, Gustav shared his knowledge of a malady called “Chicken Lung” with Bran. They deduced that the three-legged chickens have been the cause of the nasty cough they noticed with the bar tender, as well as around the village. The team decided to rest before going to the temple. The night was uneventful, and everyone headed downstairs to meet for breakfast. The innkeeper served a double-yoked egg. Gustav and Bran bravely ate the eggs, while the rest of the party ordered oats. Over breakfast, Bran asked the innkeeper about the temple. He informed them that the priest is dead, as a part of the temple collapsed and fell on him. Regardless, the team decided to go see the temple before carrying on to the Wittgensteins. En-route to the temple a woman cozied up to Falco and tried to hand him a baby. Bran took a look and saw that it was not human, but rather a giant spider. The party wished to destroy the monstrosity, which prompted Bran to become protective. In the end, Falco distracted him while Hargrin dispatched the spider. In this moment a two-headed sheep appeared, and was being chased by a group of hungry villagers. Bran lost interest in the spider, and became hell-bent on protecting the sheep. Bran spoke to the sheep, befriended it, and hid it from the group of villagers. The party carried onto the temple. Inside the room is dark with light streaming in through a hole in the roof. There’s a large altar in the room with a Sigmarite statue behind it. Bran detected a magical presence while inspecting a leather-bound book on the altar. Stay tuned for what happens next week. by Michael Morgan (aka Falco)

Gustav Myrthenbaum the Bounty Hunter (Davy White) Falco the Apothecary (Michael Morgan) Hargrin the Troll Slayer (Kevin Bronakoski) Bran the Amber Wizard (David Crapper) On River Trolls and Their Slayers We continued our pursuit of the Troll and pulled into the small town. A frantic Halfling was trying to wave us down on the run-down pier. As we closed, we could see it was that nefarious skid mark’s sister, Dumpling. We tossed her a rope and she loosely secured the boat. There was a huge explosion of wood and a massive water plume. The dreaded River Troll, our Dwarf’s quarry erupted from the jetty and Dumpling was thrown far into the river. As the rest of us recoiled, dove for cover, or simply fell back, Hargrin leapt from the heaving boat to the destroyed dock, both axes flashing out. With a roar the troll brought down its massive paw, destroying more of the jetty. Hagrin was in a tumble roll, one of the axes disappearing through the side of the troll. The cry was ear splitting. Little Gustav frantically raced back and forth barking, but thankfully could not get to the dock. I watched in horror as the arm I had raised to shield myself began sprouting horrid thick hair. I could feel it all over my body. Sprouting and bristling. This is it I thought, the final transmutation of my very physical self, succumbing to the ruinous power that had already marked me as damned. Enraged, I was up and the crossbow loosed it’s bolt. It flew true, despite the noise and chaos and I saw it disappear into the gut of the fell beast. Only then did I hear Bran’s voice over the din, letting us know that Ghur’s power was with each of us and we could draw on the very reserves of the earth’s power. The troll swung again and again, this time with an old anchor that it must have found ages ago, lost in the muck. The slayer, preternaturally rolling away from each and every blow, somehow finding an undamaged piece of the jetty to get to. A flash and the unmistakable draw of power. The sudden smell of fresh cut wood and a stake of wood or bone or both struck the beast in the shoulder, pluming with dark ichor. If it noticed it was hard to tell. More of the wizard’s conjuring. Thinking I saw an opportunity, I dove in but the enraged beast was fury incarnate and it was impossible to get close enough to land a blow. I lacked the dwarf’s skill and fearlessness and could only try and distract it. Falco, beside me at this time, cried out and pointed. The slayer appeared on the back of the monster, and there is no other way to describe it, was climbing the back of the thing with his axes, as though climbing an ice wall with picks. The troll, mad with anger tried, but could not reach the dwarf with his gruesome purchase and position. There was a terrible exaltation and with three mighty whacks, the slayer was through the neck and the head tumbled to the ground. The body flailing for far too long to be natural. There was a sudden stillness and we all sat in silence, not sure what had exactly happened and how Hargrin had managed to survive this one-sided encounter. He looked lost, in that moment. Like a failure, strangely. Wet, chest heaving. It is impossible to say but I swear I saw tears on his cheeks, though I never did broach the subject with him. I mean him no shame. It was Bran that was the first to collect himself, examining the troll. The beast had another ear with a stone set in it, clasped in its claw. Bran took the ear, interested in the stone work. I stumbled forward and noted that the fat itself was a prize but the others did not believe the well documented fact that troll fat makes one impervious to disease. It was at this point we realized Dumpling was in the water, and Falco dove into to save her. I saw real concern on his face and to this date I am unsure of that relationship. Bran as well jumped in, after disrobing, looking more like a beast. A hairy comet with a pig’s bladder flotation device. With some shouting and flailing Bran was able to find her. We hauled the pair back. Looking at her face, so similar to that of her dastardly brother filled me with the darkest thoughts. Before she expired she told us that Gerhard had collected her brother and my heart leapt. Now I would have a chance to exact some bloody revenge for the outrage I had suffered because of him. Falco now swam back with the body of some poor soul whose very body had revolted against him. I can sympathize with this poor fellow now. Clearly these bodies had floated down from Castle Wittgenstein. Seeing this, Bran turned into his Raven form. Watching him transform his own body back and forth without any ill effects and drawing on this energy so freely disturbs me more than it clearly ever did him. He flew off and was back quick enough with news that a small group of starving locals was coming towards us. This dreadful lot approached us and they pawed and mewed for food. Falco gave the wretches some of his rats and they devoured these in the most appalling manner. Hagrin issued the darkest threats but these barely got through to them in their state. We had to resort to near violence to get them to back off just a little. We had however, arrived close to the dreaded castle Wittgenstein, and we headed towards the village, set there under the oppressive shadow of the fortress…. by Gustav (aka Davy White)

Gustav Myrthenbaum the Dilettante (Davy White) Falco the Apothecary (Michael Morgan) Hargrin the Troll Slayer (Kevin Bronakoski) Bran the Amber Wizard (David Crapper) Rutger Horstmann the Zealot (Chris Taylor) We’d make camp for the night. We were eating and talking as we usually do, when we heard some noises coming from the woods. It was this old human woman on a cart with bells. I don’t know why she’d have bells on her cart driving through the night. Makes no sense. Anyway she wanted to share our campfire but she was very insistent on having some of our food. Well we gave her some. She said her name was Wyrmhilda. Very strange name. She made some very strange comments and then she decided to take off. We figured she would have spent the night with us but she was a loony old bat. So the next day we headed across the river to the next signal tower. It was on the opposite bank. Gustav and Falco, they….had a very rough time getting across. Falco and Gustav both had problems meaning that Gustav lost his backpack. Or Falco lost his backpack.. I can’t remember. One of them lost his backpack. And Bran chased it down the river, eventually catching it. So apparently I’m a little more buoyant than my brothers and I made it across quite easily. I’ve gotten the hang of this water thing. It’s not quite as scary as I always felt it was. I guess the more time I spend in it, the better i’m getting. Anyway we got to the signal tower. It was pretty much smashed up and it stunk all to hell. And there was a dead sheep. it looked like the troll had been through here but there was no tracks leading the way. And when we decided that we weren’t exactly sure where we were going a boat stopped by. It was dropping off building supples. We somewhat, I would say, tricked them into sharing their food and spending the night with us. So anyway we travelled with the boat to Kemperbad, since we had no idea where the troll was heading. When we got to Kemperbad we found that the troll had attacked the dock and then headed south just the day before. We’d just missed him. Gustav offered 5 gold for a boat to take us to the next town right away. That next town was Wittgendorf. So we travelled down and as we were tying up to the Wittgendorf dock a halfling female ran up and she was asking for us to help. And right then is when a troll jumped up out of the water and climbed up onto the dock. by Kevin Bronakowski (aka Hargrin)
